The way i thought on how my preliminary should look was all in my head and putting it down on paper just seemed tough, in my head things seem in order and are easier to keep a track of. Paper i feel gets lost and unorganized at times, but not in any way am i saying that i had no plans for my prelim task. The theme i was given was the idea of college and school which i knew i'd familiar with it . School is something that i've gone through my entire life and putting school into a magazine just seemed that much easier rather than going directly into the music industry to a direction i've almost never been into before.
The name for the prelim i thought that would best fit the theme of school was "BMI-A MEDIA UNIVERSITY" due to the fact that at the moment i'm studying in BMI(Beaconhouse Margalla Islamabad ) so i thought why not create a fictional university of the school im studying at with it having its major focus on media studies. I did not know how to have a photo shoot for something like this as i was kind of new to all this so i thought why not just take my camera to school and capture every moment i thought worthy of being in the magazine, eventually capturing upto around 250 photos that day, i found it very difficult to choose one for the cover and the contents page. It was winter time and our uniform rules require us to wear black so the picture of the content page had to have a lot of black in it so i thought why not keep the magazine cover and contents page with a little darkish look so i mainly used colors with a nature of being more dark such as red, black, brown, grey plus if you think about it, dark colours or rather dull colors symbolize school life for a student so i said why not!
For the post production part i thought of to add text and a bit of detail to what it said. I wanted to have topics related in school life particularly media students and how it meant to them. I wanted the text to symbolize what me and my friends in media studies were going through at the moment, thinking about media and its diversity, having no clue on post production and photoshop it all intrigued us so i thought of adding these ideas to the prelim in some way.
These were my ideas on how to have a basic picture created in my head so that i could get started on the prelim and hopefully they were somewhat successful but the fact i'm new to all of this and i still have to be getting used to good pre production and post production makes it tougher but i like it and i want to get a hang of it.
